BAGO 2025 - Public Policy & Syariah Law Programme (Trip to Putrajaya)

Apr 29, 2025
09.00 AM - 06.00 PM

29 April 2025 - Our delegates from the Bangsamoro Attorney General’s Office (BAGO), Philippines continued their knowledge exchange in Putrajaya, focusing on Malaysia’s Syariah judiciary and Islamic legal institutions.

The day began with a visit to the Department of Syariah Judiciary Malaysia (JKSM), where participants were introduced to the structure and operation of the Syariah court system. The session gave valuable insights into how Malaysia manages Syariah legal processes alongside its civil system.

The delegation then toured Nasyrul Quran, one of the largest Qur’an printing and distribution centres in the world. The visit offered meaningful exposure to Malaysia’s efforts in preserving and spreading the teachings of the Holy Qur’an through high-quality production and dissemination.

After prayers and lunch, the group visited the Mufti’s Office of the Federal Territories, where they engaged in a thoughtful discussion with Sahibus Samahah Datuk Associate Professor Dr. Luqman Bin Haji Abdullah, Mufti of the Federal Territories. The session explored the role of fatwa, religious authority, and the harmonisation of Islamic principles in public governance.

The last session of the day featured a distinguished speaker, YB Senator Datuk Seri Dr. Mujahid Yusof, Bekas Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri (Hal Ehwal Agama), who shared his reflections on the evolving role of Islamic governance in Malaysia. His insights enriched the delegates’ understanding of policy-making, religious moderation, and leadership in a multicultural context.

Throughout the day, participants expressed deep interest and appreciation for the opportunity to learn from Malaysia’s approach to Syariah law, judicial administration, and Islamic governance—strengthening both professional understanding and cross-border collaboration.
